Classes For Adults
September 8 - December 12
Students will have up to 75 pounds of clay to use during a full 14-week session; 37.5 pounds in a 7-week session. Clay is
available for purchase beyond the class allotment at $11.00 per 25-pound box. The Pottery is closed Thursday, November 27, in
observance of Thanksgiving.

INTRO CLASSES
Two 7-week sessions (6 class meetings each). These classes are designed to help students gain basic skills and understanding of ceramics.
- Session one: September 8 October 25
- Session two: October 26 December 12
- $190 for (1) seven-week session (members $171)
- $330 for (2) seven-week sessions (members $297)
INTRO TO TILE MAKING Designing tile, making molds and pressing, students will develop a foundation in tile making. (Monday am)
INTRO TO THROWING Using the potters wheel, this class focuses on basic throwing and glazing techniques.
(Wednesday pm and Thursday am)
INTRO TO CERAMICS Each class, a new project: building with slabs, coiling, molds, throwing, and glazing.
(Thursday pm)
CONTINUING STUDIES CLASSES (CS)
One 14 week session.
These classes are designed for students with basic skills, who understand basic vocabulary and studio processes of wedging,
reclaim, drying, and glazing.Minimum abilities for CONTINUING STUDIES classes:
- For Throwing students must have ability to throw 4 wide x 6 tall cylinders with 2 pounds of clay
- For Handbuilding students can join pieces of clay successfully and avoid cracking clay
- For Tile Making can make molds independently and know basics of installation.
STUDENTS WITHOUT THESE PREREQUISITES SHOULD NOT ENROLL IN CONTINUING STUDIES CLASSES.

SCHEDULE FOR CONTINUING STUDIES CLASSES
Continuing Studies Classes offer a combination of opportunities in the 14-week format, providing 15
activity units in the session.
- 9 class times with instructor including demo/discussion
- 3 studio work class times
- 3 workshops on Saturday Morning, which will be repeated to provide space for
all Continuing Studies students to attend (workshop size is limited )

* = On two of the work days on schedule, there will not be a class meeting. The instructor and class will determine those dates within the first 2 days of class.
