Custom Architectural Tiles
Pewabic Pottery's in-house designers work closely with architects and designers to create stunning tile designs for private residences and public buildings. Here is information about how our Design Studio will work for you.

How will Pewabic work with designers or homeowners?
An initial meeting at the Pottery is provided, at no cost, to learn about your preferences and goals. We then arrange a site visit and produce drawings to your project's specifications. Please ask a Pewabic designer for details about fees.

Are samples available?
Tile samples from our Design Studio are always available to you. A shipping and handling fee of $12.00 is charged, with credit card payment available for your convenience. We can also ship C.O.D., if you prefer, for an additional $6.00. We do encourage return of samples when they are no longer of use.

Sometimes clients like to use tile from our Museum Store as samples. Of course, these are available to you but need to be paid for in advance at the Museum Store. These tiles can also be returned when no longer needed.

Will my finished project be the exact color of my tile sample?
Some color variance is a normal and expected part of each Pewabic glaze. This variation creates the signature Pewabic "look" and is due to the hand-crafted nature of the tile we have been fabricating for nearly a century.

How much time does Pewabic need to complete my project?
Our production time takes 12-16 weeks to create handcrafted tiles designed especially for you. Rush orders are usually available for an additional fee. Please ask your Pewabic designer if your project is suitable for rush order status.

How should I return Pewabic tile samples?
Simply mail your samples back to us - Attention: Tile Samples.

About Pewabic Pottery's History
We are one of the nation's oldest potteries still in existence. Founded in 1903 at the height of the American Arts & Crafts Movement, Pewabic Pottery today is a studio for the design of gift tile, vesselware and custom architectural tile. We also offer year-round ceramic classes for children and adults.

Pewabic has earned a national reputation for its tile commissions and unique glazes, particularly the iridescent formulas which can be seen in private homes and commercial buildings throughout the country.

Our 1907 Tudor Revival building is open to the public. Here early Pewabic pieces and vessels can be seen in the museum and contemporary ceramic art can be seen in the galleries.

Why not make an appointment?
Please call our in-house Design Studio to schedule an appointment with a Pewabic designer; they are off-site at client appointments frequently and may not be available unless they are anticipating your visit.

For information on pricing, timetables, glaze and color selections, and design assistance, please contact our studio and a designer will be happy to answer your questions.
